Yıldız Teknik Üniversitesi is a state university founded in İstanbul in 1982. The institution's roots date back to the Kondüktör Mekteb-i Alisi, founded in 1911. It offers undergraduate and graduate programs in engineering, architecture, science and letters, economics and administrative sciences, education, naval architecture and maritime, art and design, chemistry-metallurgy, and civil engineering faculties. Educational activities are carried out on the Davutpaşa and Beşiktaş campuses. The Davutpaşa campus has modern laboratory and research infrastructure. The technology development zone hosts R&D and entrepreneurship activities. The campuses in central locations of İstanbul provide easy access by public transportation.
