International University of Sarajevo (IUS) was founded by the Sarajevo Education Development Foundation on October 3, 2003, and started its educational life with the English preparatory class in the 2004-2005 academic year. It has gone down in history as the first international university and the first foundation university in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The university was officially recognized by the Sarajevo Ministry of Education and T.C. Council of Higher Education in January 2005. It has been included in the T.C. ÖSYM preference guide since 2008; Turkish students are allowed to make choices with their YKS scores. Its academic structure includes five faculties: the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, the Faculty of Economics and Management Sciences, the Faculty of Law, and the Faculty of Education, and approximately 20 undergraduate programs. Genetics and Bioengineering, Architecture, Business Administration, International Relations, and Psychology are among its prominent programs. The university's large campus in the Ilıca region of Sarajevo is equipped with modern university buildings, a library, a research center, and student dormitories. Hosting students from more than 45 countries, the university operates in full compliance with the Bologna process and is a member of the European University Association. The language of instruction is English.
