Rauf Denktaş Üniversitesi (RDU) is a foundation university named after Rauf Raif Denktaş, the founding president of the TRNC who served for many years. The university, whose foundations were laid in 2013, officially started education in 2017 after the YÖDAK approval and in 2020 with the permission of the T.C. Yükseköğretim Kurulu. It is the only university located in the historical Walled City of Lefkoşa. The Rectorate building is located on Abdi Çavuş Street, where the first Turkish hospital was located, and the Dikilitaş classrooms are located in the former Faysal İslam Bankası building. The historical Mısırlızade Cinema building was restored by the university and transformed into the Rauf Denktaş Culture and Congress Center. The academic structure includes nearly thirteen undergraduate departments in three faculties: Faculty of Architecture and Engineering, Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences, and Faculty of Law. The university's academic programs are accredited by international accreditation organizations such as the Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation (FIBAA). It adopts an educational approach that prioritizes the international employability of its graduates in the fields of law, international relations and business. The language of instruction is Turkish or English, depending on the program.
