Malatya Turgut Özal University is a state university established in Malatya in 2018. It offers undergraduate and graduate programs in the faculties of engineering and natural sciences, economics and administrative sciences, Islamic sciences, health sciences, and agriculture. The university, which was established by separating from İnönü University, has an academic structure focused on applied sciences. Research projects are being developed in line with Malatya's apricot production and food industry potential. There are educational units in the Battalgazi and Darende districts.
