Kastamonu Üniversitesi is a state university established in Kastamonu in 2006. It offers undergraduate and graduate programs in the faculties of engineering and architecture, forestry, science and letters, economics and administrative sciences, education, Islamic sciences, medicine, fine arts and design, and health sciences. Kuzeykent Campus has a modern education infrastructure. The Faculty of Forestry conducts research on the biodiversity of the Küre Mountains.
