Hoca Ahmet Yesevi Uluslararası Türk-Kazak Üniversitesi is a joint state university of the Republics of Turkey and Kazakhstan with international, autonomous status. The foundations of the university were laid on June 6, 1991, with the decision of the President of Kazakhstan, Nazarbayev, under the name of Turkistan State University; On October 31, 1992, it was transformed into a joint university of the two countries with an international agreement signed in Ankara. It is located in the city of Türkistan, where the tomb of Hoca Ahmet Yesevi is located and which is considered one of the spiritual capitals of the Turkish world. The university serves more than 12 thousand students in 10 faculties and 1 vocational school on its 300-hectare central campus. The institution, which started accepting students in the 1994-1995 academic year, opened Kazakhstan's first Faculty of Theology in 2020. Approximately 5,500 students study in 19 undergraduate and graduate programs within the Turkish Turkish Distance Education Program (TÜRTEP) operating in Ankara. The language of instruction is Turkish Turkish and Kazakh Turkish; English and Russian are also taught. The selection of students from Turkey is made by T.C. ÖSYM. According to the founding agreement, university diplomas are equivalent to the diplomas of higher education institutions providing education in the same field in Turkey and Kazakhstan. ---
