Azerbaycan Devlet Pedagoji Üniversitesi (ADPU) was founded in Baku on August 26, 1921, by the decision of the Council of People's Commissars of Azerbaijan and is one of the most well-established higher education institutions in Azerbaijan. The university, named after Nasireddin Tusi, has been the central institution in Azerbaijan for teacher training for over a century. Since its establishment, the university, which has graduated over 100,000 educators, provides education to approximately 12,000 students at its main campus in the capital, Baku. Its academic structure includes ten faculties—the Faculty of Philology, Faculty of History, Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics, Faculty of Physics and Technology, Faculty of Biology, Faculty of Chemistry, Faculty of Preschool Education and Psychological Services, Faculty of Primary Education, Faculty of Music and Art, Faculty of Geography, and the Faculty of Qualification and Retraining—and approximately 55 chairs. The language of instruction is Azerbaijani Turkish and Russian; a one-year preparatory program is offered for students who do not know these languages. Graduates of certain programs, such as Psychological Counseling and Guidance Teaching, may be subject to equivalence procedures by the T.C. YÖK. The university, accredited by the Azerbaijan Ministry of Education, conducts international cooperation and exchange programs for foreign students. ---
