Cytogenetic Technician/Technologist — Career Guide

Cytogenetic Technologists analyze chromosomes or chromosome segments found in biological specimens, such as amniotic fluids, bone marrow, solid tumors, and blood, to aid in the study, diagnosis, classification, or treatment of heritable or acquired genetic diseases. They perform analyses through classical cytogenetics, fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), or array comparative genomic hybridization (aCGH) techniques. In Turkey, they work in genetic diagnostic centers and research laboratories.
