Account and Data Deletion

You can delete your Tercih Robotu account and all associated personal data at any time. This page explains how to do so, what data is deleted, and the exceptions that apply.
1. In-App Deletion (Recommended)
The fastest way is to delete your account from within the app. The operation completes in seconds and your account is immediately disabled on the server side.
- Open the Tercih Robotu mobile app or the tercih-robotu.com web version.
- Navigate to More → Profile from the bottom-right corner.
- Tap the "Delete Account" link at the bottom of the page.
- Confirm your decision on the confirmation screen.
Your account becomes inaccessible immediately after this action. Associated data is permanently removed according to the timeline described below.
2. Email Deletion Request
If you cannot access the app (forgotten password, lost access to your device, etc.), you can request deletion via email.

Subject: Account Deletion Request
Content: The email address registered to your account + an explicit statement of your deletion request. For identity verification, the request must come from your registered email address.
Your account will be disabled within 7 business daysof the request and permanently deleted within 30 days.
3. Data That Is Deleted
The deletion covers all of the following data categories:
- Profile information — name, email, profile photo
- Preference list — all saved university and department preferences
- AI Advisor chat history — all messages and responses
- Notification records — history of push notifications sent to you
- App preferences — language, theme, notification preferences
- Session data — access tokens and device records
4. Data That Is Retained
The following data may be retained for a limited period due to legal obligations or legitimate interests. This data is not linked to your identity (it is anonymized) and cannot be used to build a profile about you.
- Anonymous usage statistics — aggregate metrics such as how often screens are opened (anonymous data under Turkish Data Protection Law Article 28/1-c). Cannot be linked back to you.
- Security and fraud prevention logs — IP addresses and session logs from the 90 days prior to deletion, retained for investigating potential abuse and then deleted.
- Legal obligation records — if any, purchase or invoice records are retained for 5 years under Turkish Tax Procedure Law Article 253. No such records exist for free users.
5. Timeline

6. Deletion Is Irreversible
Account deletion cannot be undone. Once deletion is initiated, your data cannot be recovered. You can create a new account with the same email address, but your previous preference list, chat history, or settings will not be restored.
7. Your Rights Under KVKK / GDPR
Under Article 11 of Turkish Data Protection Law No. 6698 (KVKK) and Article 17 of the GDPR ("Right to Erasure"), you have the following rights:
- Request access to your data
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Object to data processing
- Request your data in a portable format
